Have you signed up for the Ossining MATTERS 5K/2M yet? That fantastic event is just the start of what promises to be an AMAZING day at the Ossining waterfront celebrating our Village Bicentennial. There is so much going on—live music, food, history, art, green living, rock climbing, sailing, kayaking, movies, exhibits….I can’t event list it all so I put a bunch of links at the end of this post.
This year Eric talked me into running the 5K. Despite the fact that I have always stated I hate running, we started training in the spring. For various reasons, our training stopped in July. We got back to it earlier this month. I’ve still never run 5K. Needless to say, I will be one of the very last people to complete the fun run tomorrow. I will surely walk as much as I jog. But I will complete it!
Last year I walked the 2M with Paxton and my only regret was never signing up in previous years. This run/walk is more than just a giant fundraiser that allows our schools to offer so many of the enrichment programs that we do. It’s an inspiring morning, where hundreds of people move together through the streets and trails of Ossining, doing something that strengthens our bodies and our community.
This year we’ll be running/walking a new route that starts at the waterfront. Check-in is under the big white tent that is now set-up by the ferry dock, just north of the Ossining Boat & Canoe Club. If you didn’t pre-register online, you can register at the check-in tent on Friday from 5:00-8:00pm or Saturday morning from 7:30-8:30am.
There’s so much going on at the Ossining waterfront from morning until the the fireworks at 10:00pm, I’m just going to offer you a few links to learn more details. I look forward to seeing you at the beautiful Ossining waterfront tomorrow!!
